Snails: hermaphrodite animals
Each individual snail is both male and female. During sexual union, the snails face each other and join together at the feet. Each snail deposits sperm in the female reproductive system of the other snail. In this way, the ova of both snails are fertilised. When the ova are fertilised, each snail makes a hole in the ground to lay their eggs in. Baby snails hatch from the eggs. They are identical to the parents, but are smaller.
